About the Book

Reports From the Soul is a balm for pain, generating joy, and induced self validation through liberating citations. The poetry speaks volumes to the reader about love, sensuality, pain, bereavement, racism, and bigotry, forgiveness, and success.
Whatever your mood, whatever your circumstances, whatever your goals and dreams, there is a poem here that will help you express it, help you more deeply feel it, help you positively conceive it.
Reports From the Soul is filled with restortative cultural dialects once forgotten, family and magic, trials and tribulations that one can relate to despite their social status.
The illustrations paint ancestral memories that take you on an imagery journey of reflection, with thoughts of celebration and appreciation for those who have built a foundation for you to flourish.
Reports From the soul is more than just a nice book of poems.  It's an emotional catharsis in verse.

About the Author

Inspired by her upbringing, Golden Winters has a unique voice.  Born a Hoosier, she has a flavor of both the North and South and gives credit to her Council of Elders in Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina. Golden has struggled most of her life to be heard in a world that seems to recognize a standard voice.  Her multiple perspectives serve as a vehicle to transport the reader to another place.

Golden collaborated with four artists from vast and varied backgrounds. Jim Fuge from Durango, Colorado, an illustrator and freelance photogrpaher for conservation associations, priviate individuals and federal organizations.  Ray Skeet of the Navajo Nation, is an aspiring artist in Santa Fe, New Mexico. James Smith Helena, Arkansas designed a mural for the Cashmere Garden Library in Houston, Texas, and participates in art exhibits throughout the South. Charmaine Neville, New Orleans, Louisiana, third generation; Neville is not only an entertainer. She is multi-talented and her quiet time is spent creating various art pieces from Mardi Gras Indians  greeting cards to the impact of Hurricane Katrina.

Golden believes it is defining character to choose an appropriate venue for self-expression. As a change agent, she writes to inspire others through her poetry and short stories.  Her words of expression are thought provoking based on life experiences, imagination, creativity, morals, values, and a strong foundation in her culture.
