- The Stillness’ my friend, is the same as death is for the humans. It is the end of the body only, but the beginning of a journey for the feline soul. Close your eyes Cat-1, and open the eye inside your head. -
The soothing warmth from our mother’s breast had now gone. She would soon be still, like my two brothers and sister kits whose tiny mouths were fixed on the teats that they had chosen. My own warmth too was gradually going, bringing that same unearthly stillness ever closer to me. I leapt from my mother’s breast and mewed as wildly as my weakened body allowed. I bounded across from one corner of the darkened shed to the other. I scratched frantically for a way out. I clawed where my mother had clawed, where the blood from her torn pads had stained the shredded wood. My little paws became sore and blistered; they were getting weaker and failing to keep up with my will to survive. The coldness soon took control and began to numb my body from head to tail. The stillness was then upon me, intent on robbing from me the little life I had left.

My mother nuzzled my nose gently to awaken me. I found myself back in the snug comfort of our warm basket in which my mother was nursing me. She stopped my piercing mews with the methodical caresses of her tongue on my head. She soothed me and eased my racing heart that was beating in panic. I was warm. I felt safe. I could move once again, but I couldn’t forget my dream of that terrifying stillness in the shed.

About the Book
His name is Cathorian. He is known as Cat-1. He is the first cat of the Family Felidae to have acquired the skill of telepathy. Having inherited the same skills, his offspring learn during their nine lives, to communicate with their human companions.
The story of The Onecat begins, revealing a new stage in the evolutionary development of the Family Felidae with humanity. During his nine lives, Cathorian experiences a spectrum of emotion with the human companions with whom he shares each life. Divorce, betrayal, death, illness, and tragedy are many experiences that are conquered spiritually through love, compassion and understanding.
Cathorian pads his way through this heart-warming, cat and human tale, of humour, romance, suspense, mystery, and the supernatural.
About the Author
Born in London, Islington, Jennifer Koch-Buccheri discovered her passion for writing at a young age, seeking refuge from life in the stories she wrote.
At the age of twenty, and trapped in an abusive marriage, JKB came to live in a quiet town by the sea where she started to study psychology, and psychotherapy. During these years, a love for cats developed, and gave her the confidence which she needed to get through a bitter divorce.
JKB’s desire to start writing again, brought her the opportunity to travel, meet new people, and explore further aspects in psychology. During this stage, a synchronised course of events led JKB into the arms of her present, French husband, Jean-Philippe Koch-Buccheri.
Happily married, they shared their love for cats, and were soon owned by two Siamese, Cleo, and Cyrano. Sadly, JKB fell seriously ill. Having been diagnosed with M.E, – myalgic encephalomyelitis – she began the slow process, learning to live within the limitations of this disabling condition.
To this day, JKB is still suffering with M.E, but with the love of her husband, and cats, continues to explore the feline character. The 9necat is a fictionalised account of her experiences, and a vision, in which cats, and humans, share a telepathic relationship in the future.
