About the Book
This book promotes literacy introducing shapes and colors to preschool children. The colorful illustrations which basically are produced from collage art would capture the interest of younger children. Presented in a wholistic approach, even older children would find it interesting. To facilitate higher learning, grade school teachers can introduce and use this book in the classroom because this book touches on the child's intellectual, social/emotional and spiritual development.
About the Author
Teresita Castillo-Cristal is a wife, a mother of 4, grandmother of 6 and an educator. Born and raised in the Philippines, she is the eldest of 11 children. She spent her elementary and high school years in St. Theresa’s Academy, a private Catholic school run by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. After attending the University of Sto. Tomas and University of the East, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree Major in English as well as 30 units in Master of Arts in Teaching English as Second Language. She taught English in college for four years but most of her teaching years were spent in a Catholic high school for boys, Lourdes School of Quezon City. She migrated to the United States with her family in June l993. In US, she began a new chapter in her teaching career as a preschool teacher. She is currently the Center Director of Rolling Hills Head Start, a federally funded head start program in San Diego, California.
