About the Book

The Matchbook Prophecies is a collection of provocative verses originally composed in Detroit on matchbooks in the pubs, cafes, and places of social events that Robert Mouton attended. Reflecting his wanderlust lifestyle, The Matchbook Prophecies depicts humanity through a wild and exoteric spectacle.

So, imagine your self walking into a café, bar, or a pub and you order a drink, maybe an appetizer and the bartender returns with your order and hands you a matchbook. On the matchbook there are words of mystery that unfold into the future of the evening, if you allow it to go that far.

You may embark upon an erotic episode, a fight or even a vision quest to change the world or destroy it. These are the prophecies of our humanity in its most extreme environments, acting out what we are afraid to. Come and experience The Matchbook Prophecies and take a thrilling ride into your soul.

Each title such at MUSIC MENU is the name of the bar where I wrote the prophecies on the matchbooks.

About the Author

Robert Mouton, born in Harbor Beach, Michigan, is the youngest of five children. He is a self-taught musician and writer. He writes wherever and whenever the inspiration strikes him thus leading him to write The Matchbook Prophecies. His childhood mostly consisted of attending the Port Austin Community Players (aka, PACP). While his mother participated in directing, acting and such, Robert would be back stage where his world was like a cartoon complete with images of people changing in and out of constumes before his virgin eyes. After graduating from North Huron High, he went off to college and studied many subjects, but Mouton was not to be tamed by the institution when life is so much more. 

Today he continues to write about love and loss, social events and personal perspectives on experiences that are transposed into profound statements and poetic stimulation.  Possessing a wonder lust lifestyle his heart and soul has bean triggered to live in the moments that touch his life from working in a multitude of occupations, including everything from valet parking cars, dairy farming, catering, door-to-door sales, political campaigns, the US Navy, and environmental consulting.  

In addition to his writing, Robert Mouton is a song writer and a classical piano/orchestra composer who performs in cafes and other unique venues around the U.S.
