God Child

Dewlorien pushed the thoughts of what might have been from his mind and brought himself back to the matter at hand.  He turned and looked to where the hooded figure was also getting up from the floor.

“Thank you, friend, I owe you the debt of my life.”

“It was my pleasure,” the figure said curtly.

“Why the hood?” Dewlorien asked, “You are amongst friends here.”

The figure pulled the hood back to reveal the face of a striking, young Elven woman.  Her honey brown locks fell effortlessly down each side of her pale smooth face and her chestnut eyes were deep and full of an aged knowledge that belied her young appearance.  Dewlorien gasped.

“Is there a problem, friend?” the last word of the sentence carried so much sarcasm it almost slapped Dewlorien across the face.

“No, I err…  I was just expecting…” Dewlorien stumbled with the sentence, embarrassed.

“A man?  Yes Humans always do,” She said impassively, “Not all warriors are male, how pathetic of you to assume so.”

“I can see we are all getting along just fine here,” Gwendor said humourlessly, “We’d love to chat, but we’ve got two friends that need some treatment.”

Gwendor went over to where Harlok was and looked at his wound, “It looks as if he has just passed out.  Its nasty but I think he’ll live.”

“You will need to put something on it to fight the infection,” the Elf told Gwendor.

“You know something about this do you?” Gwendor asked hopefully.

“More than you apparently.  Move out of the way,” Gwendor didn’t argue he just moved to one side and let their new acquaintance take over.  She rifled through a small bag tied at her waist and pulled a jar out filled with a yellow coloured ointment.

She pulled the javelin out of Harlok's hip, “It hit a bone, it probably saved his life, but it will hurt for some time,” and she smeared some of the ointment on with her fingers and bandaged the wound tightly.  She made her way then to where Neidal was lying on the ground panting.  He was covered in several cuts and gashes but none of them were too serious.  After she had applied some of the ointment to the worst of the wounds and bandaged him up a little the Elven woman stood up and turned to Gwendor and Dewlorien.

“We thank you again,” Dewlorien said a little cautiously, not knowing what kind of response he was likely to get in return.

“Don’t think I’m trying to be rude, but what is it you are doing here on your own anyway?” Gwendor asked suspiciously.
