About the Author

In a long and diverse career – working with people (teaching, property management), working with things (running a home-repair business), and working with ideas (writing) – I have made many mistakes and been through several marriages.  Now happily married, I wanted to share with others some of the lessons I learned from my mistakes and those others have shared with me – and I’ve been fortunate in having a number of friends who were willing to tell me their stories.

A few facts:  An MA in Comparative Literature.  A year as an exchange student in Germany.  Two years in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer.  Four years as a counselor on a special educational project in a ghetto school  Ten years working with job-training programs and employment issues.  Five years running a home-repair business.  Ten years in homeowner association management.
