This book deal with Racism in America that is alive and well in our everyday lives. I wrote this book to help us as American to stomp out racism and it ugly results. we can stop what happen to James Byrd Jr. in 1998. This is 2015 and many other people from dying to soon because the color of their skin. Police killings are on the rise with white officers and black men it s like an epidemic in America. Years ago Jasper, TX was in the spotlight today its places like Missouri and Florida with Mr. Brown and Tayvon Martin two young blacks that both died from gunshot wounds. President Obama the first Africian Americian President of the United States of America and racism has showed its ugly head even more. God will judge the hearts on man we must stop Disasters before the happen. in History. White and Black relations are not so good in some places. Blacks are still being dragged in the Southern States and Blacks are mad about it. My book deals with the dragging death of James Byrd Jr. we have found common ground like we did Sept. 11, 2001 when we came together as a nation. Jasper was the same way when we prayed and walked the streets with our white brother and sisters. The ministers played a great role when we began to preach forgiveness in our churches. There were over 50 churches in the city of Jasper. The prayer vigils were very important at the start of everything.
This brought blacks and whites together at a crucial time. Whites ministers and blacks ministers walked and sang those old gospel songs.We went from finding a man, minus the head and right arm to holding hands with whites and praying with them.

This book is an easy read. Racism is alive and well. O Today with all the race problems we have with young black teens being shot down in the streets by white police officers. We see racism plays a big part of what we as American see on our nightly news stories. Mr. Brown's death like James Byrd Jr. of Jasper brought millions of people to the streets as well as other countries. Justice for Mr. Brown is still being sought by many in America. Riots and city burnings show the dislike for law enforcement when unfair judgments are made downtown to protect their own. Racism has not changed its just looks different. The same hard core roots of hate still lies in America with Blacks being the victims. It was slavery and now its race relations that keeping our young black men from becoming great in this nation. The killings have to stop if America is going to be a peaceful place to live. This book takes a look at the race relations of Jasper, Texas during 1998 when James Byrd Jr. was killed in Jasper, TX by three white men. The men drug his body two miles down a back road until he was beheaded. His body left a brown stain eched in that road. America the home of the free and the brave has a race problem. This book talks about dragging in Texas, that is Jasper. We have a black President for the first time in history and his name is Barack Obama and things seem to have gotten worse with all of the negative comments against him and his family. This book deals with the issue of being black in Jasper, Texas. This book will open your eyes and it will touch your heart. The people of Jasper,TX kept it together and called for prayer. The stories are true and they will sometimes make you want to cry. Every man and woman in America should read this book to get an understanding on what really happened in Jasper, TX. It was uncovered by God for us to see racism at it’s worst. Read it and it will change your life forever.
About the Author
The author of this book is Pastor Johnny R. Baker a young black man who has loved Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. since he was a youth. He is a writer that writes his thoughts on paper and wishes America would become a non-racist world. He grew up in a small town that was predominantly white and he was treated well most of the time by those in his town. He became a minister in 1984 shortly after he graduated from high school. He married his wife of 30 years and they have two daughters. He attended Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, TX and started a career in the field of education. He graduated from college in 1994 and became the head baseball coach for the Big Sandy Wildcats in Big Sandy, Texas. He began coaching boys and girls’ basketball, football for the Wildcats. He worked in the elementary school teaching science and social studies to sixth grade students. He taught school for three years in Big Sandy,TX. During his second year of teaching, he opened his own Bar-B-Que Restaurant in the downtown area.
It was near the only traffic light in town. He hired about six of his students, players, and family members to open the restaurant. There he faced racism at his business in downtown Big Sandy, TX. In the summer of 1997, he moved out the area to Jasper, TX to teach 4th grade at Rowe Elementary School. While in Jasper, he started a church out of his apartment called Spiritual Temple Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C. It later grew to over 100 members. He is presently teaching and coaching at Palestine High School in Palestine, TX, . He pastors the Spiritual Temple Powerhouse Church of God in Christ in Frankston, TX. and his TV Show can be seen all over the world on Friday Mornings at 10:00 am Central Time on allnationstv.com stream online. He is a sought after speaker and preaches all across the US.
