Patrick laughed and replied, “What your saying is that you have to become somebody before your even ready to get with somebody.”
“Nah, nigga! Men and women are different in that aspect. Most women feel that being with a loved one makes them somebody. They need to feel that they are complete. I’m somebody right now. Stephanie just doesn’t know it yet. In a sense you can call it a subliminal low-self esteem effect. Most black women are just too arrogant to admit it. They’ll want to go with somebody so bad that they’ll even lower their standards just for some run of the mill nigga you see every day.”
Patrick quickly challenged Andre’s theory, “In other words your calling yourself one of those run of the mill niggas.”
Andre smiled and replied, “I was just stating an example. You took it upon yourself to compare me. I know you’ve seen chicks with boyfriends that you know are bad for them. Those same chicks believe the same notion, but the urge to be complete is so strong they can’t resist being in a relationship even if it’s with a complete asshole.”
Patrick snapped, “So now you’re an asshole.”
Andre rolled his eyes and nonchalantly replied, “I’m saying that Stephanie may appear to be happy with herself and she probably is but deep inside she is a creature of emotion that has a yearn for companionship. If you understand that principle then you can basically play chicks for what they are.”
Patrick responded, “And what’s that?”
“Vulnerable. Especially the ones who put up all that fronting I don’t need a man type shit. Usually they are the most insecure vulnerable ones. Stephanie wants a man.

Where Do We Go From Here takes you face first into the trials and tribulations of a young confused black man dealing with adversity such as graduating high school, relationships, getting a job, and the bad influences they face everyday.
Although raised in a two-parent home, Andre rarely received the attention and direction that our young black men so desperately need in order to become successful. Mentored by the neighborhood drug dealer Greg, Andre somehow manages to avoid the life of crime that his younger friend Brian admires because of the fast life it brings. Undaunted by the circumstantial temptations they go in opposite directions in life. When Andre graduates high school and becomes involved with a highly motivated aspiring lawyer named Ashley life finally looks promising. When a friendship from the past resurfaces only to disrupt the tranquility of Andre’s relationship with Ashley do things begin to fall a part and love is truly tested. In Andre’s darkest hour he is forced to rise to the occasion and do whatever is necessary to make things right even if it involves risking his own life in the process.
