Metamorphosis
Sweet melancholy adorns her face
Creating a look of subtle consternation
Shrouding her luminous complexion
Adding a hint of vulnerability to her demeanor
Thus belying the timbre of her noble façade
Bringing a sobering air to the room
But, when confronted by the jester,
In an unguarded moment… a metamorphosis
She sanctions a fleeting smile to flicker
Playfully across honeyed lips… perceptibly warming
And for a brief moment is transformed magically
Into a glowing form, intimating an elegant china doll
But as quickly as a passing wave of the sea
The moment expires, and the world alters again
The cool chill of an autumn morning now settles
And sadness now rests on that once pristine face

Some is better than others
Some are simple, some complex
Each concept like a pearl
Poets create by stringing pearls together into a larger work of art.
Pearls come in all sizes and colors
Pearls may dazzle the eye or be dark and oblique
Or somewhere in between
I have tried to be true to this concept.
Reflections are varied
Some beautiful, some abstract, others are murky
You decide where these best fit
Poetry should provoke the mind, stimulate the senses, and challenge us to see life in a different perspective.
As you read,
If you can accurately foresee the pathway turning in front of you, write on.
If you cannot determine the course ahead, read on.
