GOD
HAS
CHOSEN YOU
John 15:16 “Ye have not chosen me, but
I have chosen you, and ordained you,
that ye should go out and bring forth fruit,
and that your fruit should remain: that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in
my name he may give it to you.”
Regardless of the situation in which you
may fi nd yourself, you have the assurance
that God has chosen you, and ordained you
to be here. What a great privilege! God has
selected you (handpicked you) and anointed
you. He has given you favor—that means he
has put his blessings upon you for you to go
out and make disciples—to be his ambassador.
The fruit represents the result of your labor.
In order to bring forth fruit, you must abide
in Him and He in you. You cannot bring forth
fruit on your own.
John 15:4 “Abide in me, and I in you. As
the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except
it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except
ye abide in me.”
Jesus has already prayed that your fruit
will remain, however, you must abide in Him.
Abide means to endure without yielding or to
remain stable in a fi xed state. As long as you
stay in this position, you will bear fruit. Not
only will you be able to win people to Christ,
but also you will cultivate the fruit of the
spirit, which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and
temperance.
Another great opportunity you have is that
whatsoever (anything) you ask God for, in
Jesus’ name, you open up the door to receive.
You have access to an open door as long as
you remain in His will. It is important
that you remain prayerful. He will answer
your prayer. Know this, and accept it in your
heart. How do you feel when someone of the
opposite sex, in particular, tells you “I love
you?” Excited maybe. But this love comes
with conditions attached, whereas God will
love you unconditionally even when your ways
are not pleasing to Him.
YOU ARE SPECIAL
In Deuteronomy 7:6 it says “For thou art an
holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord
thy God hath chosen thee to be a special
people unto himself, above all people that
are upon the face of the earth.”
Why are you here? You are chosen because
you are special to God.
Are you adopted? Have you been cared
for by anyone else other than your biological
parents? Have you been in and out of foster
care? Do you feel a sense of abandonment—
a sense of hopelessness? Do you feel that
something is missing from your life and you
cannot pinpoint exactly what it is? You don’t
have to feel that way any more. I want to
reiterate that your life has a purpose. God
brought you into this world for a purpose. He
chose the family you were born into and chose
you so you can be special to Him. Remember,
he chose you! You are a chosen generation—
chosen to receive the choicest blessings from
God.
Many times we feel sorry for ourselves
because we are not exposed to the truths
of the Bible. Isn’t it exciting to know that
God has chosen you and me ordinary people,
unknown to the world, because He loves us?
It does not matter if others do not feel the
same way about you. Knowing that you are
special to God should change your mindset
from one of depression to joy. The scripture
continues in verse 9,
“Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he
is God, the faithful God, which keepeth
covenant and mercy with them that love
him and keep his commandments to a
thousand generations.”
In essence the word says that God will keep
his end of the bargain if you do the same. He
promised to take care of you if you will obey
Him and keep His commandments.
ANSWER THE CALL
God is looking for someone who would
come out of the shadows and accept his call.
“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw
also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high
and lifted up, and his train fi lled the
temple.” Isaiah 6:1
Isaiah was a young man when King
Uzziah died. The opportunity had not arisen
before for Isaiah to personally discover God.
As a result, he only found out after King
Uzziah died. Who is preventing you from
accepting Christ into your life? Remember,
salvation is an individual thing. You must
give an account to God for yourself. Don’t let
anyone in your family, or anyone with whom
you come in contact put stumbling blocks in
your way. Don’t wait for your loved ones to die
before you accept Christ. You never know, you
may precede them not having received Christ
into your life. When Isaiah saw the glory of
God revealed, he knew that in order for him
to enter the presence of the Holy God, he had
to go through a cleansing process. Before you
could get into the presence of the Lord, you
too must go through a cleansing process. In
Isaiah 6:5-8, Isaiah saw himself as unworthy
to accept God’s call because he was a sinner
and unclean. However, after the seraphim
touched his lips, and cleansed him, he was
ready to accept God’s call. He was willing
to go. His response to the call he heard was,
“here am I, send me.”
Are you willing to go? Are you willing to
take a message to the people, even though
at the end of it all no one will pat you on the
back and say, “you did a great job?” That’s
the risk you will take when you become a
mouthpiece for God.
Sometimes, it is necessary to evolve from
the shadows. We must forget tradition, and
depend totally on revelation from God. God
is looking for someone who is available and
willing to speak His Word.
The message that Isaiah had to deliver
was not pleasant, nor was it popular, but it
was God’s Word, and he was willing to deliver
it. Sometimes the messages that pastors and
missionaries have to deliver are not popular
with the audience or congregation. But, what
really matters is that you listen, and be
obedient to the voice of God.
