About the Book
Reading Jack Welch’s biography, “Jack, Straight from the Gut,” telling about his manner of running General Electric, dealing with employees, management and investment decisions, etc., I found myself thinking, “Hell, he didn’t invent anything new.” Most of us in business do those things every day of our lives. The difference between Jack Welch and more than 25 million small business men and women in the
“How to Succeed in Business by Busting Your Ass” is a memoir of my 55 years as a manufacturer and supplier to the aircraft/ariline industry. This book is an easy read, humorous at times, a down-to-earth story, probably similar to the story of hundreds of thousand business men and women everywhere. It’s filled with lessons learned and solid advice. It admits to mistakes and foolish adventures, even wild escapades like trying to be a movie producer and to own a football team.
We’ve all had our good times and bad times in business. We’ve had painful experiences and joyful ones. We’ve had happy times and unhappy times. At times, we’ve even had fun.
It’s my hope this small book will inspire and encourage hard working business men and women everywhere who are busting their asses to succeed. This book is dedicated to all of you.
I urge you to go for it. Who says you can’t achieve the Impossible Dream?
About the Author
I never planned on becoming an author but I have always enjoyed writing. Starting in Elementary school in
Very early my guide for writing has been “The Elements of Style” by Strunk and White. In the hundreds of letters I wrote in my 55 year business career I have tried to make my letters concise, to the point, at times humorous and friendly. My letter writing has helped my business career.
I am an unrelenting writer of “Letters to the Editor,” mostly political subjects and sports. In early years a high percentage of these were printed, although the current acceptance rate has declined. Yet I persist.
I have been an effective letter writer for political and social causes, soliciting for political candidates and support for worthy causes.
I write my letters by hand, followed by the typewriter or computer. I love to write letters to friends and prefer hearing from them by opening an envelope.
Like many children of immigrant parents I was neither interested in, nor did my parents care to talk about their lives in
Over the years while traveling, I have spent pleasant hours talking into a tape recorder. Once home, these recordings were transcribed, typed and distributed to our children and grandchildren.
In some ways, “How to Succeed in Business by Busting Your Ass” is an extension of my desire to tell my children about their parents. This book is part memoir, but mostly about my 55 year history of building, surviving and occasionally succeeding in the business world. I have recorded most of the experience and knowledge I gained and lessons learned during those years. It’s my hope that aspiring and hard working business men and women will find this a fun, good read.
