Jonathan Napoleon Faringo was born in a land of lost souls. The Old West was a rough place, filled with evil and temptation. His mother was Magda, who once taught Sunday school and could recite most of the 23rd Psalm. His father was Elmer, a former rodeo clown and now a struggling dirt farmer.
[The Faringo Kid is talking to the travelling preacher Johnny Plantaseed in the Bad Lands.]
Faringo Kid: Johnny Plantaseed, I kind of like sinning. It's part of my charm and charisma.
Johnny Plantaseed: Lets look at the Ten Commandments.
FK: The Ten what?
JP: Have you ever stolen anything?
FK: Does the gold shipment from the mining camps count?
JP: Did you honor your father and mother?
FK: No, not really. I was kind of a rascal.
JP: Did you ever want your neighbors house or wife?
FK: Yeah, of course. Listen Johnny Plantaseed, I think I'm a good person. Once I didn't even shoot a man in the back. Just keep your Ten whatevers.
JP: Faringo Kid, if you change your mind, just say a single prayer and let Jesus into your heart. Someday you will see the kingdom of heaven. Get saved and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Repent.
FK [riding away on his horse, Blister]: I don't get it.
Blister [thinking to himself]: I get it. I guess you don't have horsesense.

About the Book
The Faringo Kid is a humorous view of the Old West in cartoon form. The story traces the life of Jonathan Napoleon Faringo, aka. Faringo Kid, as he aspires to be the fastest gun who ever lived. Many characters go in and out of Faringo's journey that eventually takes him from darkenss into the light. Dance hall star Belle Chimes, sheriff Waylon Twerp, Doc Parasite, and the travelling preacher Johnny Plantaseed are just a few.
Although the comic element of the story is apparent, The Faringo Kid also raises questions about faith, salvation, eternal life and having a relationship with the Living God. It also shows a glimpse of heaven and hell.
So why not ride along with Faringo, and I know that you will have many questions and thoughts when you reach the end of the trail.
About the Author
D.T. (Denny) Broadhurst realized at an early age that he had a God-given talent for drawing, especially cartooning. He grew up in the Ohio Valley region and went to school and college in West Virginia.
On a trip to Daytona Beach, Florida he saw a young woman at the airport and it was love at first sight for Denny. Two years later he married Elizabeth. The day after their marriage they moved to southern California. California was good to them as they raised three children and Denny had his own wholesale fashion accessories business.
Since then, Denny and Elizabeth have relocated to the mountain ranges of north central Arizona in the Prescott area. Denny is now a Christian storyteller and cartoonist. Another work by Denny is Rocket Launcher, a children's book emphasizing a young boy's trust in the Lord.
