Floretta Neal was born Mary 5, 1960 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Louis and Cornelius Neal. Floretta attended JO Mackey elementary, J.D. Smith Jr. High, Variety school where she graduated top of her class. In 1974 at the age of fourteen Floretta was in a tragic car accident, causing the death of both her parents. Floretta was critically injured in the accident causing her to live her life as a quadriplegic. Even her debilitating circumstances wouldn’t stop Floretta from achieving her goals. In 1984 Floretta started her own talent agency Sweet Chocolate Productions, she recruited talent within her own family as well as finding talent throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Floretta took her production on the road performing shows for under privilege children and correctional facilities. In 1987 Floretta decided to further pursue her education, in 1989 she received an Associates Degree in Computer Programming. Floretta began writing poetry immediately after her rehabilitation she not only had to learn to reuse her functioning limbs she also learned to write all over again. Floretta has been confined to a wheel chair for more than thirty years during this thirty year plus period she has written volumes of poetry. Floretta’s next feat is to have her poetry published.
