About the Book

How do you concoct a bridge over the treacherous waters of the generation gap?  One recipe that helped to connect the two groups was the book some students in St. Regis, Montana wrote during the 2005-2006 school year.

First, we tossed into our mixing bowl seventeen students from St. Regis School, a rural school with 150 students including kindergarten through twelfth grade.

We gently added fourteen community members brave enough to agree to be interviewed by teenagers.

Fold in an extremely cool miniature video camera; add some interview practice so the students can watch themselves on television.

Simmer through an interesting interview and watch the new understanding rise.

About the Author

The seventeen high school students who participated in the writing of this book did so in varying degrees of enthusiasm.  These students ranged from kids who have been here since kindergarten (or earlier), to students who just recently moved here.  Some of the students who participated have since moved away.

The one common factor I found in each of theses very special youngsters was the lovely respect they showed all of our guests.  Even when the humor of the guest did nothing for the students, they still smiled as a courtesy.  They were kind to, and interacted well, with the guests who ranged from a woman who survived the Nazi occupation, to our darling new counselor.

I am extremely proud of these children and expect excellent things from them in the future.
