About the Book

This book depicts poems of deep expressions through the modern art of Spoken Word Poetry. Most of the poems are expressed in short story form to give the reader an in-depth look into the heart of the writer.

In the evolution of this world we live today, we find that many people go through trials and tribulations be-it good or bad. This is definitely a fact of life. The poems written in this book This Thing Called Life defines heart-felt emotions on many different facets of what people deal with on a daily basis. It gives a picture of love, romance, strife, passion and compassion towards people we encounter.  It also defines a broken-heart, death, and strength to be able to stand beside the one you love as well as illustrating a soulful revelation of being connected to a higher power, God.  The spoken word poems in this book serves to enlighten you with the contour of what it takes to stay strengthened in faith.

I hope this book will inspire others to see that we can overcome anything in life if we look to the creator of all mankind, Jesus Christ. (John 1:1)

About the Author

Tracy Thornton was born in Washington, DC and lived in Maryland the majority of her life.  She attended St. Augustine’s College and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1984.

Not knowing where her journey would lead her, she settled into a fresh outlook on life. A quest for the finer things the world had to offer but on the obscure side, she indulged in the small intimates of street-life while maintaining her style of upper-class living.

The excitement of life turned out to be a rollercoaster ride straight to hell.  The ticket for this ride almost cost her life.  She was shot three times and left to die.

Through the grace and mercy of God she escaped a near death experience and began to realize that life was to short and her journey to long to be considered unworthy.  She realized that she had a valuable purpose and change had to take place.

The reflections of her experiences and relationships from the many people she met along the way proved to be deep extractions from the imprints of life.

I pray that this book will give you a sense of knowing that you are not alone.  We all go through the challenges of life.  Remember, the battle is not yours, but God’s. (2 Chronicles 10:15)

Have Faith!
