Hoopoe Alights and Fosters the Journey
Being joyful of the birds’ words Hoopoe replied:
‘O my depressed flock! If heaven helps us to reach happiness, and if you really want to embark on this trip, this trip will also have my whole heart. Perhaps my physical strength will remain until I have finished helping you. Let me sympathize with whatever sorrow you have on the way. If there are hidden anxieties let me be the confidant. If you come across any problems let me solve them with my heart. If you encounter all kinds of good and evil let me always be ready to drive it away. Let me be the companion when you fly and the guard when you land.’
When he saw that they understood all that he said he praised and blessed them. Although fatigued he began speaking of different secrets one by one...

A Story
There lived a miser in Basra. He was ignorant and occupied himself by collecting gold and silver. If Hotam Tai is famous for his generosity, this man was even more famous for hoarding coins. That cruel and petty person suffered much, yet one by one obtained his precious silver pieces. Once he had saved a considerable treasure, he buried it. This harsh man also had his robe stuffed with a comparable amount of treasure. In the eyes of that greedy man, his copious treasure, although hidden, glittered like stars in the sky even in the bright light of day. He even reasoned to himself that the strength in his body and the health that marked his life were on account of his wealth...

A Story
There lived a king who was the shah of shahs. His presence was like the shadow of God in the world. He had a crown that was as bright as the sun and the pearls that decorated it shone like stars. His wealth stretched from east to west.
He also had a son. The world has yet to see again such a gallant son. It is not enough to compare his handsomeness with a bright star in the sky or a glittering pearl of a jewelry box. He was the glowing candle of beauty’s night and the beautiful cypress of the flower garden...
