Arthur The Worm

“As you seem to know everything,” said Henry starting to turn away, “I don’t think there would be any need for me to explain,” ended Henry moving away slowly.

“No no, stop,” rushed Arthur moving in front of Henry with his back turned to him digging his tail in the mud to stop Henry from moving.

The strain was showing on Arthur’s face, Henry may be slow but he was a big snail.

“Henry,” panted Arthur, “ Pleasssssssse, please tell me” begged Arthur as beads of sweat started to appear on his ribbed forehead.

“Promise not to speak in-between ?”, asked Henry.

“Promise,” said Arthur, falling on his back as Henry stopped moving away.

“It’s a motor bike race.”

“Yes, yippee, I knew it. Oh come on we’ve got to get there,” said Arthur, trying to now drag Henry along. “You know, after this race I might buy you a skate board, that will make you move faster,” said Arthur as he wriggled quickly ahead leaving Henry to slowly plod behind.

By the time Henry had reached Peachy Corner where the big peach tree stood sturdy as a rock, he found Arthur once again as restless as ever standing in a long queue to get his ticket and sign up as a contender

for the race.

Henry couldn’t help but chuckle as he slowly came to a stop beside Arthur.

“What are you doing?” asked Henry teasingly.

“Why do you have to ask such silly questions, I’m queuing of course!”, replied Henry.

“I can see that,” replied Arthur, “Why?”

“For tickets”, said Arthur about to loose his patience with Henry.

“Like this you mean,” replied Henry holding out two tickets.
