In June of 2003 there was a void in my life. I had a craving for the move of God in my life. I had a strong desire to know the Lord. I wanted more from God, The scripture says, “one thing that I desire of the Lord and that will I seek after.” I didn’t want to be put in a box and told that this is all I am going to get. I wanted the fullness of the power of God in my life. I believed that I could possess the thing God promised me. There was a place in God that I wanted to be.
I remember the scripture that says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” I was being motivated by the Word of God the more I read about the promises of God; the more I was challenged to be the best for the Lord. I believe in the promises of God. If God said it, I believe it. God is a God of Promise. If God promises you something, you already got it.
I believe that there was more to living for God than going to the church, pay tithes, giving in the offerings, singing, shouting and testifying. When I go to the house of the Lord, I go to hear the Word of God. I don’t have time to worry about who is not doing right. When I live right and do the will of God my light will shine. I don’t have time to worry about the enemy. When I pay my tithes and give in the offering, God promised that He would take care of the enemy for me. Malachi 3:11 says, “I will rebuke the devourer (which is the enemy) for your sake.”
People miss out on the blessings of God because they don’t understand or don’t realize the meaning of church service. Church is not a social club; neither is it a place where you can put dirt on people. The Lord said, “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me.” We should come together to get strength and instructions of how to be victorious over the enemy. We come to esteem to build up each other. When you can see the needs of others, you strengthen yourself. I think of the scripture that says, “Launch out into the deep.” That’s what you are doing when you think of others first. Being compassionate towards others will make room for God.
I wanted more! I wanted to tune in with the Spirit of God—to do the Will of God. I wanted a spiritual ear to hear what the spirit is saying to me. I believed that the only way that I could get promoted to have increase in my life was to move with compassion. I was sincere about what was going on in my life. I respect the anointing and I realize that you cannot be in tune with God one day and have an idle mind the next day. This is a daily walk. You have to be consistent. God is not a part-time God. The Lord said that I wish that you be hot or cold for if you are lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth. There is a song that says, “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” we all want the blessings, but no one wants to be faithful. You have to be faithful to the word of God—to His commandments—obedient to God’s truth.
The word says, “He that is willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land.” You have to have a willing heart. I believed there had to be more. I refused to let the tradition of men rob me of what God had for me. For the first time in my life I was going to be alone. The last of all my children was moving out of the home. I had a need in my life that only God could supply.
People are contented with their past life, but God has a greater life for me. The favor of God in my life has changed my way of seeing things. God’s favor is a divine flow of the supernatural power and provision to take you to your destiny. I believe that the favor of God comes from seed sowing. You have to sow for favor. Favor is not in your talent nor in your ability, but in the word of God. Proverbs 8:35 says, “Whoso findeth me findeth life and shall obtain favor of the Lord.”
