About the Book

Unknown to her, Anne Warmington won’t be the only woman to come under the spell of the total stranger who has recently taken up residence in the closely-knit, village com-munity, Malcolm having already succeeded in encroaching on the lives of countless numbers of other women over the years, and in more densely-populated, urban areas, including the East End of London, his criminal activities and his perverted, outdated atti-tude towards the opposite sex, and in particular towards vulner-able, unattached women, for which he has a penchant and with whom he has had unfulfilled sexual relationships, having had a profound impact on him psychologically, encouraging him even further in his relentless search for his ideal woman.Malcolm has been a loner at heart for most of his adult life, which isn’t too surprising to those who have gained an insight into his basic character, his occasional obsessive, unhinged behaviour and his mood swings having had the effect of putting people off from getting too closely involved with him, with one exception to the rule, his sister, Shelagh, with whom he has a lot in common, the sinister side of her nature and her dark secrets being equal in measure to his own.Not content with having met and subsequently fallen in love with a young woman who meets up to expectations, and with whom he is sexually compatible, an aspect to which he attaches consid-erable importance, Malcolm is unable to give up the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed, indulging in one night stands and the pursuit of a woman who has so far managed to resist his powers of persuasion and his methods of successfully entic-ing women into his web, and about whom he has fantasized for many long months, leading to his eventual downfall.

About the Author

I was I

I was born in Anfield, Liverpool, on the 27th of March 1943, my mother tragically passing away 10 months later, my father having in the meantime joined the Army, leaving me in the care of my grandparents and my father’s sister.

Managing to survive the ravages of war, my family were given the opportunity to move to Bromborough, on the Wirral, where I attended Bebington Secondary Modern School for Girls until I was 15 years of age, subsequently obtaining employment as a Junior Clerk in a firm of Estate Agents. Over the years, I have held a wide variety of Secretarial and P.A. posts, including the NHS, the Legal Profession, Local Government, and finally the Civil Service, from which I retired on reaching the age of 60, having lived in Birkenhead with my husband, Colin, for almost 26 years.

I have many leisure interests and hobbies, including the Arts, History, Psychology, Politics and Wild Life programmes on television. I enjoy listening to most types of music, including The Classics, Pop, Reggae, Swing, Traditional and Modern Jazz, and especially The Blues, as well as playing the piano, improvising as I go along!

I have been writing since I was 10 years of age, having been a regular contributor of short stories and poetry to a weekly Children’s Literary Talent column in a local newspaper, and for which I was rewarded with the princely sum of 2 shillings and sixpence for my efforts!

Continuing with creative writing into my early teens and late-twenties, my self- confidence in my writing ability began to wane, until as late as 1997, when the beginnings of a plot for a full-length psychological thriller began to take shape in my head as well as on paper, which I abandoned at one stage, returning to the production of the manuscript I had been working on in 2003, the outcome of which being ‘Malcolm’.

I think I should mention that in addition to the above, I have succeeded in having had a poem published in the April issue of “Writers Forum” magazine, being awarded the ‘Runner-Up to the Winner’ Prize, and have also just recently been informed that another of my poems will be appearing in next month’s issue, which is most encouraging.
