Get Out of Jail FREE
Cold, clammy winds whipped against my thin body as icy fingers of death slashed into my skin. Steel bars cast long shadows across my face. My arms hung limp at my sides as my shoulders slumped forward in despair, dejection, aloneness and now, isolation. That didn’t bother me so much, as I had learned to survive this way, until I heard the heavy iron door shudder on its hinges as it slammed, closing out the light of day while sealing the damp darkness of prison within. Fear struck at my heart!
Turning quickly to fight back, I threw my body against the rough hard surface screaming, shouting and crying into deaf ears as a big black key grated in the lock creating a wall of cold hard separation between me and the rest of the world. I slid down the rough surface of the old iron door slumping into a heap on the cold, damp cement floor.

Get Out of Jail FREE is a personal look at childhood guilt, suppressed in the mind and heart carrying over into adult life. We all have experiences of guilt, thinking we did something wrong or that something that happened in our families was our fault.
