Old Friend
He was ninety-one years of age when he died and that is old by any standard. He had always walked with a spring in his step, always one or two steps ahead of me but that was because he embraced life with zeal not because he insisted on being first. He had lived a vivacious and full life up until the last two months when the illness finally got to him. No one knew he had the disease because he never complained, never let on that he was uncomfortable though we could see him slipping away. The first indication was a slight limp and his inability to sprint up stairs. Other than that he seemed normal.
