About the Book

Casey’s comfortable world is changed forever when she is forced to leave her beloved Key West, Florida for the unfamiliar farmland of Illinois.  She will never see her special friends again: Kat, Buckshot and his hound dog, Laura May.

The author follows a little girl’s idyllic life turn to devastation as she is forced to move from …”The best place to live in all the world.”

On the very first day in her new school Casey is pulled into “The Big Challenge.”  Casey will play a pivotal role and unlikely hero in deciding if boys are indeed better than girls. …Casey stood frozen at the plate.  She was the new girl for pity sake. Her only painful thought was…Why, why did we have to move?

About the Author

Sandra grew up in rural Illinois, discovering and investigating the banks of the Fox River with her childhood friends, who were simply referred to as “the gang.”

As an adult, Sandra taught 4th grade for a number of years before taking a break in order to be home with her three young children.  When entering the work force again, she decided to switch gears by going back to school for an RN degree.

It was after retirement from a satisfying nursing career that she discovered the joy of writing for children and drew from the lasting impact of her own easy, nostalgic look of growing up.   She manages to include her grandchildren in her stories, making one or more the “star” in each of her works.

Sandra resides with her husband in Elgin, Illinois, dividing her time between family, traveling and of coarse, writing.
