About the Book

Dr. M. Solaiman Ali's multidisciplinary background, teaching experience in various countries, and sustained life-long interest in education have enhanced his understanding of education.  

 

In 1985, he enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Language Education at the School of Education, Indiana University, Bloomington, and graduated in 1991.  

While teaching at the School of Engineering, King Abdulaziz University, in Saudi Arabia, he embarked on a personal project -- to collect the definitions of educational terms and concepts he learned over the years and also to find those related educational terms he did not know but are important for an educator to know, and to compile them into a book with consideration for publishing.

About the Author

Dr. Solaiman Ali, author of Dictionary of Education: Language of Teaching and Learning, has an outstanding educational career. He completed Higher Secondary Certificate examinations (stood seventh at the Rajshahi Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh). He earned his BA and MA in English from the Rajshahi University in 1973 and 1975, respectively. He attended Lakehead University, Canada and received his M.Ed. and MA (English) degrees. He studied Language Education and TESOL/Applied Linguistics at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, and was awarded a Ph.D. and Diploma.

Dr. Ali has taught English as a Foreign Language and Literature at universities in Bangladesh, Algeria, Canada, USA and Saudi Arabia. He's currently employed at the School of Engineering, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He's a US citizen.
