About the Book

"A Moose is Loose!" was written as a bed time for Mr. Buchanan's then 5 year-old daughter.
Every night, she'd want to hear the story and hear it often! Sometimes the story would be told several times, and usually, several different ways!
 
Moose is a youngster in every sense of the word: scared, excited and full of life.
After getting startled by noises in the woods, he runs. He ran as fast as he could to
the lights of the city, to find new adventures, and yes, new friends!

About the Author

Writing professionally since 1990, Steve Buchanan has a wide
and varied background in his chosen field, from small magazines
and community newspapers to more recognized national publications
as well. Chances are he''s probably done free-lance work for one of your
favorite reads.
Always a writer, he began writing at a very early age. "I remember sitting in class
in third or fourth grade. While the others were laughing and playing, I was thinking
of stories. I would then write what my mind''s eye saw" Mr. Buchanan would tell
Authorhouse in 2005. He''d continue "I would always write stories that I knew my mother
would like to read. I''d run home just to show her. From an early age, she was my best
supporter, and in a lot of ways, my first Editor!" 
 
After a stint in the United States Marine Corps, he decided that he wanted to continue
his life''s education in the classroom, persuing his degree in the field of his love,
the written word. Even before graduation from college, he was selling his work to showcasing his skills to a wide audience.
A lot of free-lance work and word of mouth put Mr. Buchanan in a good position
to get his work out there. "I would often write for free, just to get work."
My parents always said "You have to pay your dues, and by being your own best promoter and salesman, you''ll get your name and your work out there" he would say.
 
Mr. Buchanan''s first book, "A Moose is Loose!", a whimsical tale about a moose
that gets loose, only to find fun, friends and adventure in an unlikely place....the city!
It is currently available from fine folks at AUTHORHOUSE.
 
He is currently working on several ideas for future books for children and young
adults. More Moose adventures are sure to follow. "I''m very proud of Moose. He
is a great character, with so much fun in him. I''d like to do at least one more book
with him!"  He''s also very proud of his next major endeavor,
"The True Tales of Shorty Stevens".  "Shorty is a child with a great imagination, and zest for life. His story starts in the timber country of rural Arkansas, 1936.
"I''m very excited to tell Shorty''s tales because he is a real firecracker!"  He and his friends,
Scooter McElroy and Easter Rhodes, find all kinds of adventures to get into during the dark times of the depression. From solving mysteries to having a cup of coffee with the President on the back steps of a train traveling through town, they will be anything but bored!

Mr. Buchanan was born in Michigan, but raised in Arkansas by proud Arkansans!
Generations of folks from Arkansas made him who he is today.
A College graduate, former Marine, Author, Historian, Master Mason, Proud Shriner,
