About the Book

In Matthew Whiting’s debut novel we are introduced to Sam – a boy who has nothing going for him but an intense love of cooking. When it seems his life has been ruined by the school bully and all is lost, Sam decides he must take a risk and start to rebuild his life.

It is only when Sam has a successful restaurant and the support of Maria, the love of his life that Sam must question what is really important in life. This will involve him facing the past and speaking to his long-lost father. He must do this before he risks losing it all.

About the Author

Matthew Whiting was born in Newport Pagnell on the 10th May 1973 to Sue and Ray.

His creative talents first shone through as a youngster in the 1980’s. If he wasn’t making his own BMX bikes from spare parts he was writing and performing hip hop tracks in his bedroom with his mates.

Matt has found employment as an office worker with Abbey National, on site with his father, in a gym, as a welfare officer at University and most recently as a globe trotting P.E. teacher.

His interests include sport, cooking, music, travel and surfing. He is happiest when spending time on the beach and in the waves, preferably with his friends and family, with a cold beer waiting somewhere near by.

He has lived in such exotic parts of the world as New Zealand, Cairo and…..Pontypridd.

On the 5th August 2006 he was married to Catherine Haddon in Woolacombe, North Devon.

His first novel, ‘The Spice of Life’ was published in March 2006. He is currently deciding whether his future career lies in writing, as a restaurateur or in education.

Whatever he chooses, all that know Matt predict a successful and happy future.
