“Oie''! Who goes there?!” Shouted a squeaky male voice leaving a reverberating echo resounding from the armor.
Both Trident and Jinx jumped back from the enchanted armor. Tridents hands filled with crackling blue sparks, as Jinx held his wand at the ready, his buck teeth jutting from his slack jaw, his face clearly showing the unbelief at what his eyes were seeing.
All four figures stood there motionless. The suit of armor on the right spoke next, a deep male voice. “You goin’ to answer ‘is question or ain''t ya?”
“Listen I can ‘andle dis on my own, I don’t need your help a’right?” said the first suit of armor.
“I’m not meaning to tread on toes, simply trying to speed the process along,” said the second.
“Yeah, but you got to be the speaker last time, I wanna be the speaker this time, and your crossin’ boundaries mate,” said the first suit.
“Well excuse me for trying to be efficient.” The second suit said, lowering his sword, and turning to look at the other suit of armor. “It’s not like you’re any good at your lines anyway.”
The first suit of armor swung his sword around and knocked the head off of his comrade.
“Thinking twice about that statement now ain''t ya?” asked the still standing suit. The headless armor dropped its sword as it got to its knees and started looking for its head.
“Now, lets try this again. Who are ya? Where ya be going?” The armor asked again.
Jinx couldn’t help but laugh as the armor on all fours was feeling for his head. Trident chuckled softly as well, but seeing how the armor had had no qualms about knocking his friends head off, he stood ready to unleash his power at the figure in front of them.
“I am Trident, first level Wizard, and this is my friend, Jinx, first level Sorcerer. We have come to see the Headmaster.”
“You’re Trident?” asked the first suit of armor in adoration and shock. “Wow! I thought you’d be taller. And still so young? Its impressive the things we been hearin’ you been doin’.”
The headless comrade rose from the ground having finally found his head and placed it square on his shoulders. It ran straight at the first suit and kicked it squarely in the butt knocking him forward and causing his head to go rolling down the hall.
The standing suit took a moment to admire his work and chuckled softly. The headless armor went on all fours looking now, for his head.
Turning, the still standing armor took the two students in. “I love it when the tables turn like that. Do you know how degradin’ it is, to lose your head, and ‘ave to go lookin’ on all fours? Not to mention it makes ya vulnerable.” and with that, he kicked his head-searching friend in the butt.
“And who are you?” asked Trident.
“Me? I’m Harol. And that headless wonder is Matin. We are Guardians of the Sanctuary. Its an important job.” The armor stood proudly with his gauntlets on his hips.
“I have a better question,” said Jinx still looking dumbfounded, “what are you?”

About the Book
Trident a young man awakes in the middle of the night to pains in his stomach of unknown origin, as though his bowels are being pulled toward something. Following the direction of the pain, he is led on to The Sanctuary. A monumental castle built within the confines of a mountain, filled with magic and the few people that are left in the world with the spark.
Learning from his headmaster Richard, Trident’s abilities grow at an exponential rate as he advances through the ranks at incredible speed, and comes to realize his potential. He finds that he has the ability to be the most powerful wizard in thousands of years.
Along the way he meets his bucktoothed friend Jinx, and a Troll named Erl, who was once a wizard until someone sucker punched him with a spell during a duel. Now he’s stuck in a troll’s body, slowly taking upon him troll-like tendencies and losing his mind. They only hope? To find the counter spell to return him to his human state before the transformation is complete.
One night after classes, Trident and Richard sit under the stars relating their sad stories about their lost families, when a creature attacks from overhead. Like a giant bat with a man’s body covered in fur, the Uthrax attacks Richard who fends off the beast while Trident gets away. Sadly, Richard doesn’t escape unscathed the inflicted wounds from the creature infect his body with a magical fever that threatens to slowly destroy him from the inside, in a dream world.
Now it’s up to Trident and Jinx to save Richard. Discovering through clues and informants the whereabouts of the Uthrax, and the man that created it, they must travel the Eastern Mountains where an eternal dark flame spews forth from the earth, the ever present symbol of the darkness of the underworld, and it’s Lord.
To reach the mountains they must first cross through the
Trident and Jinx gather friends to their cause along the way, an elf princess named Ulanna, and her two body guards Cherid and Rubek, her twin brothers. Together with a small group of elves they continue the hunt for the beast.
The Uthrax once covered the world in darkness, with its ability to divide exponentially as it consumes souls. The group finds themselves fighting against evil foes, as well as time itself.
Finally when they reach their destination, they find the creator of the Uthrax, Quilnac, a dark mage whose eyes are as black as his soul. He created the Uthrax, merging his own body with it, so he could absorb souls as well, and tear the veil separating the world of the living and the dead to bring forth Dreegan, the Lord of the Dead.
Trident must now destroy the beast and stop the insane plans of a wizard more powerful and experienced then himself. Not just for Richard, but for the sake of the world and all things living. If he fails, nothing will survive the rise of Dreegan.
