Dad’s friend came. He and dad loaded what meager possessions we had on the back of his truck. They left a little room on the back end and somehow got the front end of the Ford Model “A” up on it. The back wheels would run as the truck pulled it.
We were off for a 300 mile ride from South Western Pennsylvania to North Eastern Pennsylvania. I don’t remember much about the trip, or how often we may have stopped to see if any adjustments were needed. I do remember that gasoline was fifteen cents a gallon, and there were numerous oil rigs that pumped oil out of the ground in the Western part of the state.

About the Book
Sally at ten years was a tomboy, on Barclay Mountain. Barclay was once a booming coal mining area. In the 1930''s when work was hard to come by, her father moved the family back to Barclay. He had a job digging coal. Sally''s family consisted of mom and dad, a sister, Annie the cow. Her sister was Older and wasn''t around much. So Sally, as a child, spent her days in adventures on Barclay Mountain. The time frame here is from 1939 to 1943. The Great Depression was coming to an end. America was at war with Hitler in Germany. A former editor of The Daily Review. Staley Clark, had written a small book, called The Romance of Old Barclay. In his book he wrote reports of what things Were like in the days when Barclay was a boom town, Sally had seen another report in The Daily Review, in the past, that said the Barclay picnic grounds were in decline, and that no weddings ever had been held there. That was not so. During Sally''s time on Barclay Mountain, her sister married, Horace Mott on the Band stand at the Barclay Picnic Grounds. Thus the chapter in this book, "A New Romance on Barclay Mountain". This book will appeal to youth, and adults. It has historical Bradford County interest. Many older adults will relate to the places mentioned. The main plot: In this book is an account of how she came to know the Lord. Shortly thereafter, her parents also accepted the Lord and answered a call to the New Tribes Mission. Her Dad had felt a call to the Lord''s service, since he was a boy under the influence of a Godly mother. He finally came back to the Lord.

In high school, twelfth grade, I served as Editor of the school news for the
Daily Review, Towanda, Pa. Earlier when I accepted the
Lord as my Savior at a very young age, I felt called to do something for the
Lord''s work. I wanted to be a missionary.
After high school graduation, there were no funds for me to go to Journalism school. I did do editorial, advertising, dark room work for a Local weekly newspaper, The Sullivan Review, Dushore, Pa. From there I Went into photography as a business

The call to serve Him was and is, still on me. I do not have a good speaking voice. I have taught Sunday school to various age groups. I have studied The Scofield Study Bible until the pages are falling out.
During this past winter, when I had help at home, I decided to get at this book, and get it done. I must tell this story, and get MY VOICE IN PRINT.
