About the Book

This is a collection of stories, some autobiographical and some about other people. Many true life events, recounted just as they happened are often outrageous. But, with the reader in mind, the author has taken the liberty of changing some details and embellishing some scenes to spice them up some more. Thus, the title, True Tales, Slightly Skewed.

The chapters take you from a teenager’s inept hunting trip, to spoofs on fads, how not to do a luau, amorous temptations and miscues in love, outdoor adventures gone bad, experiences living in a trailer park, and the joys (not) of trying to regain one’s life after heart surgery.

About the Author

     H. Barnett Jones was born in 1929 just in time for the Great Depression caused by the stock market crash, and not quite soon enough to  fight in World War II.  He grew up in Buffalo, Wyoming, a small ranching community, went to college and then the Air Force and served overseas. He eventually earned a Master’s degree, taught high school Spanish and was married, with four children.

In 1990 he retired, which finally gave him time to pursue one of his passions, writing. After working on this craft for a couple of years he began to see his work published, in magazine articles and then his first book, True Tales of a Wyoming Generation.

Recovered from a quadruple bypass heart surgery, he now spends his time in the mountains, hiking and back country skiing, as well as writing and indulging his grandchildren.
