About the Book

I never thought that I would ever make a living from writing or have a career in writing.  But I want to publish my short story and poems because I want my voice to be heard.  That doesn’t happen in my family.  I think very differently from my family, so they never approve of, or encourage, anything I do.  I also get no support from my friends.  I am different from them in the sense that I wanted to be popular and was all into student organizations in school.  They were not into those things.  By writing, I am not trying to get people to agree with me.  I am just using writing as a medium to vent my feelings and express my views, and that’s what you will see in my works.

About the Author

I became interested in writing when I was in the ninth grade.  My ninth grade English teacher told me that I was a very good writer.  But at that time, I still struggled with grammar and diction.  When I became more comfortable with writing in English, I started to write more and more.  When my parents owned a store in Chinatown, I typed journals in a room on the second floor of the store everyday.  My dad did the same thing.  He was a published Chinese author and he did most of his writing in our store.  I won the Junior Class Poetry Award and took Advanced Placement English in high school.  I have a BA degree in Creative Writing from the University of Southern California.  I completed 29 units of additional college coursework, including a poetry writing class, at CSULA in the past two years.
