King Henry closed his eyes and took a deep breath as if breathing in the powerful spirit of his sword. He felt as if every fiber in his body had become charged with the mighty energy of a thunderbolt of lightning sent by the Spirit of God Himself. Glory and honor swept over and through him as the flames reflected in the blade of his sword lengthened and shortened at the mere twist of his wrist as he angled the blade, ever so slowly, in front of his face. It was as if his royal sword were a porthole in which to view centuries past when at the sound of blaring trumpets knights of the Round Table and those of the crusades drew their mighty swords as they charged valiantly onto the field of battle crying, For God and country do we this day fight!
Fire blazed in King Henry’s eyes as they popped open. He felt the righteousness of zealotry surge through him with the force of a magic potion as he lifted his sword high above his head. The reflection of flickering candlelight flashed on the cold, gray steel as he steadied the heavy sword and bellowed, “ Shame to him who thinks evil of it, for evil shall befall upon those who think it! “ With great restraint he brought his royal sword down slowly, deliberately, then with the slightest of movement lightly touched the tip of it ritualistically on Parr’s shoulder. “ From this night forward I dub thee, “ King Henry said, “ Sir William Parr, Knight of, The Most Royal Order of the Garter. “
