About the Book

Persistently Challenged was written to share those life experiences that challenge the very meaning of life. The question "Why me?" is always asked but never seems to be adequately answered. The book conveys there is always hope, and we should never give up even in the face of the most ardent challenges. I have been through devastating crisis involving issues with finances, health and relationships for the past thirty years. I have tried to remain strong in my Christian beliefs that God loves all of us and cares for all of us. At times, it was very difficult to hold onto that belief. I have found that in the most difficult of situations my faith and the love and support from my family is what sustained me through those times. I hope that this book can be helpful to those who have faced or now are facing difficult times.

About the Author

Charles Alleva, better known to his family and friends as Chuck, graduated first in his class from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1975 and voted by his classmates as the person who best exemplified the qualifications needed to be a successful funeral director. Following in his father‘s footsteps, Chuck became a licensed funeral director in the state of Pennsylvania not before facing one of his most monumental challenges. He had to assume the leadership role in his family business following the sudden death of his father. He remained fulltime in the business until 1996 and from that time he has been there on a part time basis. In 1981 he was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease known as CIDP. It became increasingly difficult to work fulltime due to the devastating effects of the disease. In the early years, he cycled and successfully completed eight American Cancer Bicathons from Philadelphia, PA to Atlantic City, N.J, a sixty two mile journey.

In the Fall of 2OO3 he was one of ten people in this country who underwent a cutting edge medical treatment for neurological diseases. Today he lives with his lovely wife Judith and is a proud father of five wonderful Children.
