Me the Butterfly
We look at the butterfly and we say, “Oh how beautiful it is.”
That beautiful butterfly has been through stages to become what it is, and so must we.
Me the butterfly, I have felt life as a caterpillar, crawling around in a state of confusion, not knowing when the shoe, the fly swatter, or what is going to finish me off.
Crawling, seeking shelter from the things that can take me out, where do I go? Whom do I go to? Not wanting to show how frail I am, I must be strong for the family.
All my life I have felt unprotected and frail and not trusting, fighting to keep my sanity, fighting to hold on to the only one who could help: God. Yes, I have been this caterpillar, seeking to make a cocoon so I can show the beauty that’s in me when I come out.
I’m in my cocoon, not ready to show my beauty, not ready to be used by God, unable to go any further without the strength of God.
In my cocoon God is breaking me daily, showing me that all I try to do is failure; showing me that my own knowledge and ability to meet my needs are not working.
In my cocoon I feel so all alone even though I feel God’s presence strongly at times; like David I say, “take not your spirit from me.”
My cocoon has a crack and I can look out, but I’m not ready yet to show my beauty. Lord, you alone know how to mold and make me, but when this process is over I will be beautiful like the butterflies that visit me each day.
I must thank you for what I am going through, because in all things I must give thanks. I will rise like the butterfly, spread my wings, and show the beauty that you have created in me.
I will fly with the beauty of the butterfly.

1 John 4:11-12 “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”
When I think of our friendship and how God put us together,
I know with God we can always fight the enemy wherever.
When I see the real you through my spiritual eyes,
I see a future with directions only God supplies.
I know you wonder sometimes what I see.
I see God’s total will for thee.
When I think that someday we both must leave this earth,
I want to be sure we meet again.
I can only be sure if we serve the same
