What a mean and terrible thing, God! How? Why? What is going on? I just sat and wept in the doctor’s
office. Nothing she said could I even now repeat. I do recall her putting her hand on my lap and saying how sorry she was to have me go through this. Everything else was all a blur. All I could think about was how could I go on? How will I ever smile again? How will I be around people? I just can’t go on. I left the office crying so hard I couldn’t even see the road because of all of the tears! When I got home, I called Grant right away. I wanted him so badly. So sad, and so unfair! He was also so down. When he got home, he just held me. How angry are we! God, I will be a great mother! I desire children. This doesn’t make sense to me. There are people out there who plan children and get them. There are people who don’t plan for children and get them! There are people out there who don’t want or love or care about children and get them! Why? Why do you allow that?Abuse, neglect…I promise that I would take such good care of them. I bought so many cute baby clothes in faith. I look at them and could die! My body feels numb with pain, sadness and confusion. Why did I get my hopes up? As I sat and pondered about being pregnant, You knew the whole time that I wasn't and let me continue in happiness knowing I'd be let down. I trust you are a loving God, and I don't see how this could happen. The Bible says if your child asks for a fish, do you give him a stone? I asked for a baby, and I got a stone! Your Word also says You are not a respector of persons, and I am begging and pleading you to fulfill my desire of motherhood and I continue to sit and watch so many have my desire fulfilled! I specify that I want a son! I want to experience pregnancy. Please continue to be with me today. This is suffering. Please take me out of this terrible mess!

About the Author
This is the first book ever written by Lori Fitch. She hopes her story will inspire and encourage those experiencing the pain and difficulties infertility brings. She has a true passion for couples experiencing infertility, because she has faced the pain infertility brings first-hand. Lori and her husband, Grant, have been married for 15 years, and reside in Central Minnesota. They are the proud parents of their 2 year old son, Caleb and are anxiously awaiting the birth of a second son in early October 2005.
