Welcome to the world of Alan Brighton, M.D.

Alan is a lonely man, trapped in a self-made prison. Mired in a mid-life crisis fueled by rising debt, a law suit, and professional burn-out, his life has reached its nadir, Alan retreats to Bleaker City where things appear even worse. The mother of an old friend has died and Larry, a schizophrenic, must go to a care home in Florida, with no means to get there. Alan has spent a lifetime of not coming to Larry’s aid, and fears this will be a repeat performance. While in Bleaker City, Alan meets up with comical genius, Jack Thompson, and the two decide to take Larry to Florida.

Dark humor, metaphysics, and sex are served in ample supply as the three journey through the South in an irreverent pilgrimage, as Alan learns valuable lessons in life and self-forgiveness.
