In the show, This Old House”, a skilled carpenter can take an old run down house and restore it to the original beauty and design envisioned by the builder. Paint can erase years of abuse from the elements and offer a coat of purity and cleanliness. A new floor board or baseboard can offer that finished look that before was fractured and scarred. A new floor once uneven with lost pieces can overlay the perils of use and refinish with an array of smoothness and splendor. Disinfectants can remove all the opportunistic molds and mildews and perfume the house with loving fragrance.
The human body in many regards is just like an old house. Years of sun rays can wrinkle the baby smooth skin and leave it rough to the touch. The feet have traveled many miles and the eyes have perceived many scenarios. The ears have learned to tune out the disheartening sounds the world has to offer. The sense of smell may have long left the realm of sweetness and dulled to the taste of pleasure.
Caring for the “older house” can be burdensome at times, seemingly without gratitude, and always difficult, but the rewards at the end of the “project” are far greater than anyone could ever imagine.

She has another son, Jeff, a daughter-in-love, Staci and a grandbaby on the way in late January 2005. She has formal education in real estate and finance has been an accomplished Realtor for nine years. She has always lived an extremely family oriented life and God has blessed her with infinite experience and insight into what it takes to be a Godly family in dealing with the aging love ones. Dana has cared for not only her Grandmothers, Frances and Mimi, but also her Mother-in-law Cora, for a number of years. Dana knows that God has called her to help write this book, and that He has helped her to discern between the pains felt for ailing loved ones and His true purpose for them and for her.
