About the Book
"This has got to be one of the most original story set-ups since those kids got lost in the back of an old closet...Dale Skutt is funny...people who love fantasy will love this book." - Bookreview.com
Comedy and epic fantasy combine in this unusual tale of modern man in a fantasy realm. The giant is a man caught in a natural disaster who awakens in a land of monsters and magical mayhem. Left to fend for himself, he faces a world inhospitable to a man for whom "killing" involves a joystick and a plasma tv, whose idea of hygiene is a bit more complex than that of the locals, and to whom foraging means finding the number for carryout. Setting out to find the way back to his world, he is joined by a bizarre cast of characters: a witch who can speak with animals and whose centuries of isolation has left her rather socially awkward, a couple (in the romantic sense) of sassy goblin merchants, a pair of little mousemen who just can't grasp the concept of numbers, and a unicorn who has the funny idea that it's a lapdog. Through his journey, the giant is drawn into the greater story of the world around him, a complex and richly detailed world of kingdoms of men and monsters vying for the ultimate prize: the source of mana.
