Going Out of Your Mind

(Chapter 1: Robert''s Story)

 

     After my tour of duty, I got married and had two children, both boys. A good civil service job came my way, and things were going well.  However, alcohol was always a part of my life.   Unfortunately, as the years passed, it began to become the main part of my life.

    Finally, I ended up losing a marriage, a job, and in addition, most of my self-esteem as well.  I arrived at a point in my life, where I lost all hope that things would ever be right or honest, again.

    I''ll spare you any further details. Suffice it to say, thankfully, a moment of clarity occurred, in which I was able to admit that I was "tore-up from the floor-up." Checking into an alcohol rehabilitation program, I began the slow, complex process of rebuilding my life again, from scratch.

 

(Chapter 4: Diane''s Story)

 

    God works in mysterious ways.  At this point, I was working for a lady in town, taking care of her two dogs and doing some housework for her, and also pet-sitting for various people around-town.  I was desperately trying to rebuild my savings, dig myself out of debt; and frankly, my ultimate goal was to leave Southern California as soon as possible.  I did not have a boyfriend, and had become sickened at the corruption and crime I had witnessed in the beach cities. A good lesson to learn in life: money does not equal morality. Sometimes, the richer the city, the more corrupt the criminal.

    The job I was in paid well; but frankly, I was becoming mentally and physically exhausted, working a seven-day a week schedule, despite my disabilities, both emotional and physical, from the assault.  I was ready to move on, hoping to move to a new state in order to start my life over again.  It was at this point in time, that Mr. Robert De La O walked into my life.
