Inside the Great Hall Laurel stood motionless. Then Jonathan walked up beside her and softly whispered in her ear, “Do not fear or despair my Lady, I too am sworn to protect you with my very life if needs be, just as the others have said as well. Surely he will get tired soon and then depart.”
“I do not wish to intrude, Sire.” came Elzbeth’s voice from near a small opening in the wall that looked out onto the small rise next to the hall and the stream beyond it. “But I fear that some other’s have joined in league with perhaps our Lady’s tormentor, she continued.” “Come see for yourself, Sire, came Darcy’s voice.” As she motioned to Jonathan to come to the opening. As he looked out a tiny slit in the wall, he saw much to his amazement, his Grand father and Grandmother, as well as, Joshua and Mr. McBride standing near a tree line at the edge of the stream, not to far from where Mr. Daugherty stood.
Turning round quickly, he hastened back to
Cautiously he approached the tiny opening and called out to Mr. Daugherty, “Black Knight! Here… ME… Now!!! I am the Captain of Lady Elerrina’s Guard! My name is Captain Jeremiah Jonathan McInnis! Tis I who accompanied your daughter to this place, and like the other’s here, which you refuse to see! I too, am sworn to protect her against all who might do her harm! Including the likes of you! I have seen and watched how ya have troubled and terrified yur daughter, as well as the rest of yur children for far to long. I will not lose her or them to the darkness of your world! So, Black Knight get thee hence from this place and go back the way ya cum, or I shall be forced to do thee harm. The likes of which ye shall never forget, for and eternity! Now what say ye!”
Joshua and Ida Mea heard Jonathan’s voice boom loud and strong, from within the confines of the Great Hall. They looked over at one another after he had finished speaking and both of them smiled and winked at each other.
Jonathan had stepped back from the opening and was awaiting Mr. Daugherty’s response. As he stood there, Darcy reached out and handed him her sabre. Saying, “Take this saber, I give thee, for it will light your way to freedom and the vanquishing of the Black Knight that waits without.” As Jonathan took hold of it, he felt a strange sensation come over him, and then he looked down at the sabre. It glowed with an amber light. Bright and hot it was, as though it were on fire. But yet, the hilt of the sabre remained cool as he held it in his hand. Elzbeth had loosed her sword from it’s sheath and Darcy already held hers in her hand. “By your command Sire, we will go forth with thee, together to do battle. For it is our oath as well as our pledge to guard both you and our Lady Elerrina. Just as we did for her mother.”
While the three of them were about to go out the Great Hall doors. One Patrick Daugherty took several steps towards where Jonathan’s voice seem to emanate from. In that very instant it appeared to be coming out of thin air. At least that is the way Patrick percieved it in his already troubled mind. Mackie, seeing him advancing drew his sword as well, and held it high in the air. The fading sunlight glistened off the blade and showered bright beams of light down upon Patrick.
The light caused Patrick to stumble backwards a few paces and then he straightened himself and roared loudly, “Tis not this time that ye shall have me at yur mercy. Star child! For I am wise to the tricks that you and your brother and sister Lauren play upon me. If needs be I shall lay you all to rest right here in this Valley, once and for all! With that said he reached round his back and pulled out the small automatic hand gun he carried. Raising it over his head he was about to take aim in the direction of Mackie MacEachern and where he heard Jonathan’s voice come from.

About the Book
The years have gone by for the Merriweather/McInnis family Clan. Morgan, Jane, and Jonathan, have all seemed to settle down into a somewhat normal lifestyle. There is a new, addition to the family though, she is a bundle full of energy and joy for her mom and dad. And a bite rambunctious for her older brother at times. Her name, is Jessica Dawn McInnis, age 5. But her brother loves her undyingly. She is not the only obstacle he has to face now, though.
Jonathan, is about to graduate High School. His parents, especially his Dad who wants him to go of to a Secondary Academy. Much as does his Grand Dah, the somewhat retired Admiral Angus B. McInnis. All the while his female mentors, Jan and Ida Mea wage a battle of wits with there respective husbands. Jonathan is left to face “Decision’s”, not only from his male mentor’s, but Decision’s about his own misgivings as to how he fits into the, “Ancestral Heritage” scheme of things. Especially when he has a name like, Jonathan Jeremiah Merriweather McInnis, his life takes off on a little “Adventure” of it’s own.
Some rather peculiar things take place at the onset of his own “Adventure”. Which catapult him into meeting some rather strange, people, of a most unusual kind. The sights, sounds, and experiences, that Jonathan is party to, makes for another Novel, filled with intrigue, mystery, suspense and romance all rolled into one.
You’ll, get to meet, and learn about some “Guardian’s” and hear of a Great White Tower, and a Fairie Tale of a long lost civilization. So, sit back, kick your shoes off, and be sure to fascine your seat belt. Cause it’s gonna be a, “WORLD WIND, WILD…RIDE” of and “Adventure.”
About the Author
The, “Adventure” never stops, he just keeps on reaching into his “Bag of imaginary tricks”, and pulls out a whole bunch more. This time author T.B. Crandall has out done himself. With his latest creation, “A Far Cry... From Home”. Which is all part of his series of Novel’s about the Merriweather/McInnis Family Clan. Amongst which are, “A House A Fire”, “Bitter Sweet Revenge”, “Eyes of Stone”
In 2004, T.B. Crandall was awarded the, “Editor’s Choice Award” from the, Library of International Poet’s.” Quite and accomplishment for a first time published author.
Just when you think you have him figured out, he throws in some wild characters and spine tingling episodes into his work. That’s what makes his book’s so hard to put down. His accomplishments could not have come this far without the help and inspiration of his adorable loving wife and devoted fan. To which, T.B. Crandall himself says of his latest creation, “It will let your imagination run... WILD!” and his wife can matter of factly attest to that fact as well.
So, if your into, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and heart stopping action, with a little romance thrown in for good measure. This time he’s got it all. He hopes you enjoy the ride.
