When Loren arrived at the murder site, Logan wasn''t there. He heard someone walking through the woods and then Logan appeared out of the cover of the night''s shadows.
Logan looked at him and said, "Hit it three times. Once in the upper abdomen, twice in the back. Knocked it down the hill with the last shot. I heard it floundering around after the shot and I found blood, but no body."
"What in the hell was it? A bear? Mountain lion? What?" asked Loren, searching Logan''s pallid face.
Logan hesitated briefly, knowing that his response was going to sound crazy, but he knew what he had seen coming out of the shadows. He had seen its face many times in art, books and the Friday Night Creature Feature of his youth. It was a face out of a child''s nightmare that had suddenly thrust its way into an adult''s reality.
He looked Loren straight in the eye and said in voice that chilled Loren to the core of his very soul, "It was a werewolf."
