It Couldn't Have Happened to a Nicer Guy

While waiting for the Plane I over heard and man talking on the phone.  I was pretty sure he was speaking Russian.  After he finished his call I asked him if it was Russian, he said “Yes”.  I explained that I was traveling to meet a young lady in Russia and I wondered if he could help me with a few words to say to her.  He was very nice and pulled out a pen and wrote a couple lines.  “Hello, nice to meet you” and the one I most wanted was “You have beautiful eyes”.  “U tebya krasivaya glaza”.  Well, we got socked in and stuck on the runway for one hour.  Here I am thinking I really goofed at this changing airplanes thing, but it gave me time to practice my lines.  We finally get off the ground and half way across the ocean we hit bad weather.  At one point the airplane actually dropped about three feet.   After all this, I actually got to Minsk an hour earlier than I was originally scheduled to.

Once there in the Minsk Airport, I did start to get a little nervous.  Not so much about meeting Alla, but there were no people in this Airport.  I had never seen an Airport that was this empty.  I saw 5 or 6 people inside working at the Passport windows and 3 more working at the exit gate.  The only people there were the fifteen of us that got off the airplane.  The place was like a tomb.   After gathering my bags, which I was amazed made the same trip I did, I started looking for Alla.  Seeing no sign of her I stopped to exchange $100 to Russian money, 2155.00 Rubbles.  We had agreed to meet in the Cafe` if we couldn’t find each other.  I never guessed that with the lack of people there I would not be able to find her.  I asked for directions to the Cafe` and fumbled my way that direction.  I noticed that the Cafe` was next to the terminal that my original flight was to come in on. 

I thought at least I was in the right place.  I started looking for Alla again.  People were starting to gather for the next airplane arriving, which again was the one I was supposed to be on to begin with.  So I picked a good spot that I could watch the crowd.  At that time the crowd had grown to about 40 - 50 people.  I searched the room, I saw several women I though maybe her from a distance, but no.  Then I noticed a tall Blonde woman across the room.  I couldn’t see well, I guess my eyes were a little shot by that time.  I kept looking and I saw her again.   This time she came close enough that I could make my way over to her.  I knew what she looked like from her pictures, but as I had learned from past experiences, if a picture is worth a thousand words, about four hundred of them are stretched.  As I got closer I saw a very beautiful face, with the blondest shoulder length hair, and most beautiful blue grey eyes.  I knew this was her.
