Your inspiration piece. What is it? Why do I need one? Where can I get one?
Every person is drawn to certain colors. An inspiration piece is something that has a combination of colors that you are drawn to. You will use the colors from your inspiration piece as your color pallet to decorate your space. You will know for sure when you have found your inspiration piece because looking at it will make you feel good. If you find it in a store, you will put it down, and walk away from it, and keep coming back to it. You will be drawn to it.
Some examples of an inspiration piece are: a rug, fabric, a painting, placemat, table linens, a china pattern, etc.
Homework: find your inspiration piece. A good inspiration piece has at least 5 colors in it. This is important because it will give you plenty of color choices in your color pallet.

About the Author
Karla Cipriano has a degree in Graphic and Commercial Art, Interior Design and Technical Illustration. She was employed as a Technical Illustrator with a major automobile company for 5 years; and has 3 additional years experience with smaller art houses in the Metro Detroit area. To pursue her passion for interior design, she became a Consultant, selling designer-selected home interior products in a home sales environment. Many of her clients told her that even though they were purchasing quality designer products, they did not know what to do with them when they arrived at their door. Time and again she was told that when it came to decorating, the majority of them had no idea where to begin. It was while visiting homes, and helping clients make selections, that she discovered the great need for basic interior design instruction. She decided to become an author to help unlock the mystery of decorating. She is happily married and is the mother of three small children.
