About the Book

Auto shows have become a big hobby here in the middle western United States. I personally know of over seven hundred annual auto shows within three hundred miles of Kansas City. I believe the sport is growing throughout the United States at a rapid pace.

My wife and I have competed in enough auto shows that we have seen what will and will not work. It is always a big disappointment when we attend an auto show that makes major mistakes. We never repeat a show that makes major blunders. We feel it is obvious they don’t know what they are doing. Most people feel that way. Once a show makes major errors, the word circulates and the show’s  future is doomed.

I am constantly contacted by people who want to produce an auto show but don’t know how to do it. People are always wanting me to give them some pointers on some aspect.

I decided to write this book and include the knowledge I have gained in over thirty years of showing automobiles. I believe it will be of help to those who know little of the subject and to  those others who want to fine tune some areas of their show.

Producers that follow the guidelines contained in this book will have the best chance for a perpetually successful auto show.

About the Author

            I  have been an automobile enthusiast my entire life. As a small child, my favorite time was riding in an automobile. My grandparents raised me. My grandfather was an Oldsmobile mechanic at a small dealership near Kansas City. He taught basic automotive mechanics to me at an early age.

            I grew up building and customizing model cars. I built and raced pedal cars out of whatever spare parts I could find. I customized my bicycle. When I turned sixteen and could own a real car, I  bought an older car and fixed it up. I have continued to do that my entire life having owned only three new automobiles.

            I competed in my first auto show in 1972. Since then, I have traveled the mid western United States from Milwaukee to Dallas and Chicago to Denver to compete  in over 450 auto shows. We have competed in nearly three hundred towns spanning eleven states. I am continuing to show until I reach the lofty goals I set years ago. I love auto shows because I love automobiles. In the previous nine years, my wife and I have traveled over one hundred thousand miles competing in auto shows.
