CHAPTER 1
Ninety degree weather, swollen ankles, and larger than life I feel. I’m nine months pregnant and finally the time has come! My water has broken! To the hospital Mike and I go with great anticipation and excitement. My Mother is at my home with Philip, my oldest child, who is autistic. My new baby will be perfect, normal and life will be good! I feel so huge; I can’t wait for my baby to be born. We arrived at the hospital and I am rushed into the cold, sterile labor room while Mike is fitted with gray scrubs. Everything is ready.
Mike is hovering over me nervously as the doctor yells, “push!” Out comes the baby’s head, this is a harder delivery than my first child , I can see it from the mirror positioned in the delivery room in front of me.
“Push!” Out comes the rest, all nine pounds two ounces and beautiful! A chubby baby girl with a rosebud mouth! She is the most beautiful baby in the whole world! I am so happy! My Sara is here! I am so tired and hungry.
Back in the room and I am too excited to sleep and Mike is so proud and happy. A sandwich with a glass of milk is brought to me and I’m feeling so much better. My Father brought Philip and my Mother to the hospital to see our baby in the nursery.
I remember when Philip was born. We were all so happy and proud, especially my Dad because he had four girls and no son. In fact most of my related family are girls. Philip was the first boy born in twenty years. It only took two years to find out that he is autistic. My family was devastated but now we have hope for this new child. Sara is perfect and beautiful. She looks like a little princess!
“Hurry up she is about to enter the world,” Helena said smiling with joy. Lily flew quickly as Lank swirled to the scene.
“What an incredible sight.” Lily ogled as she moved in closer. “Where is that lovely sound coming from?”
“It’s the trumpets of heaven announcing the arrival of another blessed child,” replied Lank.
“I do admit I feel sorry for all the birthing pains Sara’s Mother is going through.”
“Yes but the inexpressible joy of delivering life outweighs the pain,” replied Helena.
“What are the doctors doing now?” Lily asked as her dusty rose and power blue feathers began to flutter.
“It’s all right,” explained Helena. “Some newborns experience a little yellowing of the skin and eyes, so the doctors put them under a special light. In a week or so her skin will return to the normal color of newborns.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t know this Lily,” remarked Lank as he adjusted his turquoise and burgundy wings.
“This is Lily’s first sight of a human birth,” commented Helena as she continued to observe the Mother’s joy.
“I knew Sara was arriving,” mused Lank. “Her Father fainted from nervous excitement and had to be taken to a room.”
“Does this always happen?” questioned Lily.
“Not really but most of the time.”
“Sara is one of the chosen ones isn’t she, Helena?”
“Yes she is. And one day she will become a princess. She will live her life in the Majestic realm because the primitive world is not accepting of different children.”
“That’s very sad,” soulfully murmured Lily. “ Although I must admit, it amazes me that God can plant a seed and bring forth life. I pray that all humanity will realize the gift He has given them.”
“Sadly not all beings see it that way,” moaned Helena who had witnessed too many human sorrows. Lily gave Helena a deep puzzling look after such a remark but knew the conversation wasn’t going any further.
“I wonder if she can see us?” giggled Lily.
“Yes she can,” replied Lank as he brushed the feathery lint off his purple robe. “What are you doing Lank? There’s nobody looking at your appearance.”
That’s something thought Lily an angel with an ego.
“Lily, you will now see why he is brushing off the lint,” explained Helen as the tiny colorful lint descended upon Sara and gathering into a glowing ball before showering into a spectrum of brilliant colors.
“Wow!” gasped Lily watching the colors hovering over Sara and streaming throughout the room. It’s like fireworks without the noise showering the entire room but only Sara and the angels could see it. Soon the colors faded except a purple light encompassing Sara in the color of royalty. “That was awesome!” Lank and Helena recalled Mrs. Pacelli’s first child, Philip, who is also special.
“I remember now,” said Helena recalling his birth. “You are his guardian, Lank, as I recall.”
“That’s right,” replied Lank coughing from the sterile environment of the hospital room.
“They chose Mrs. Pacelli to have two royal children?” interrupted Lily.
“Yes !” Helena confirmed raising her eyes toward heaven. “God chose Mrs. Pacelli because He knew she would be such loving, nurturing and a courageous Mother who would give her children the best. Sara’s parents, especially her Mother has a long difficult and bittersweet road ahead but love and faith will be their guide.”
“Look at those rosebud lips and chubby apple cheeks,” said a grinning Lily. “She is cutie.”
“All of God’s children are beautiful,” intercepted Helena. “Some just need more love and understanding then others. God feels the labor pains of all his children that are born.”
“I couldn’t have said it better,” replied Lank.
As the angels continued their intense conversation while Mrs. Pacelli was escorted to her room where the entire extended families would be waiting.
“Do we know what Kingdom Sara will be going too eventually?” asked Lily still ogling over Sara.
“It’s a long process,” sighed Helena. “We will explain it to you at another time but now let’s just cherish God’s poetry in motion.” They all watched Sara still encompassed by the luminous purple light with hues of pink. “By the way, Lank, are you going to be at her Christening?” Helena asked now hearing His majesty summoning her.
“I was but the elders changed their minds because I am still Philip’s guardian.” “What does that have to do with being a guardian to Sara?” questioned Lily.
“There is a different angel assigned to each child, one angel can’t be a guardian to two or more only an archangel approval by the King Himself. In addition, the good news is Helena will be Sara’s guardian angel,” replied Lank as he combed his long flowing white hair back.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Helena jittered with excitement.
“It was to be a surprise.” Lank’s wings began fluttering. Helena tried to hug Lank but their flapping wings prevented it and within seconds they all ascended to the celestial realm.
Philip’s mind filled with excitement as his thoughts surfaced in his mind, she has come, the princess has arrived. My Mom doesn’t know yet but she is our Princess destined to rule someday. One day Mom will realize that Sara and I are the same. She will reign in the Majestic Kingdom while I live in both the Majestic and the primitive world. Mom will be upset when she finds out Sara is like me but it will make me happy because Sara will be able to communicate with me, just as Lank said.
“What? Sara has Jaundice.” I quivered as the doctor informed me of this development. “Will she be all right? What is it?”
