About the Book

If you are awed by the many facets of nature, you will find those feelings reflected here in poetry that has been inspired by the beauty, intricacy, variety and power of nature in her many moods.

Peer closely at the minute wonders of the natural world and travel around the universe with this poet who has a way of “seeing” more than the obvious “…through nature.” Take a walk in the woods, look up at the stars, feel the rhythms of waves lapping the shore and enjoy an intimate moment with creatures that share the earth with you.

These are poems to keep nearby for a serenity break when life is hectic, or for a peaceful closure of your day.

Enjoy.

About the Author

Jane (Engemann) Mayes lives on the shore of Lake Huron at Port Austin, Michigan, where she drew her inspiration for this collection from the beauty, scope and intricacy of creation.  She also expresses her appreciation for nature through watercolor.

Her raisons d’être are her husband, three children, two “in-loves” and six grandchildren plus an international village of relatives and friends.

Holding degrees, a B.A. in French and English from Aquinas College and an M.A. in School Librarianship from Central Michigan University, Jane is now retired.  She finds that she still reads mostly to learn.

In addition to poetry, art and doing anything with grandchildren, biking, swimming, puddling around in a kayak, reading, golf, and gardening are favorite activities.  She and her husband raise Standardbred horses and enjoy seasonal visits to Destin, Florida.
