About the Book

What would you do if you just could not take anymore of your parents' discipline? If you were a young boy, you might run away from home to escape your parents' rules. Along the way you might find out how harsh the world could be. You might meet small animals that would instruct you on the nature of life. Follow Andrew as he learns more about life.

Andrew Cunningham leaves home one day to teach his parents a lesson. He will get the lesson and so will you and your family. Along the way, you get an introduction to the world of insects, spiders and worms. See their prospective on social order. There is plenty of action between Andrew's new friends. He will also be able to teach his new friends about the human prospective on conflict.

Follow Andrew through his magical world. This story is wonderful for most school-aged children, especially curious ones. The beautiful meter and rhyming prose reminiscent of Dr. Seuss will entertain even older children. This can be a wonderful introduction to poetry. Parents will find the story refreshing, for it reinforces values we want to instill in our young.

About the Author

Shepard Warner (1918-2002) was an avid reader. He enjoyed history, sociology, anthropology and English literature. He had an extensive library, which will enrich many others in the future. From the time of his discharge from the Army after the Second World War, he took classes in writing. He authored many short stories and plays. Perhaps some day they can be published. He prided himself on his knowledge and usage of English grammar.

Shepard Warner was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather. He loved to help his two sons with projects at their homes. He played with his grandchildren whenever he could. He had a patient manner, which allowed him to recognize an interesting story within everyday life. Often he played the mediator when conflicts arose.

One day his young son decided to leave home, much as other children have done when annoyed with their parents. While his son circled the block with suitcase in hand, a sandwich and a few dollars in coins, he saw an opportunity for a story. A lifetime of parenting and understanding his children allowed this wonderful story to be written. He happened to like Dr. Seuss, so the result had to rhyme.

Shepard Warner was a talented artist who worked in several mediums including sculpture and pencil drawing. Although Shepard Warner did not publish this book while alive, his family knows this would have made him happy. His family takes great pride in this accomplishment. This is his legacy for his three grandchildren.
