About the Book

Have you ever started to make a dessert only to find, somewhere in the fine print, a hidden ingredient which is not in your spice cupboard?

I can’t count the number of times this scenario has happened to me. I get everything ready to create something, and find another ingredient which I don’t have, try to substitute, and ruin the dish. With that in mind, I created a “Thumbnail” shopping list which I guarantee has all of the ingredients you will need for the dessert you are going to make, so you can always be prepared when baking with these recipes. Another frustration I have, is being instructed to turn to another page to complete the dessert I am working on. There I am, with my fingers covered with some unknown ingredient, flipping through the cookbook, feeling like Hansel and Gretel depositing crumbs which are destined to stick to the pages being turned, instead of staying in the bowl to become part of the tasty delicacy. Hence, complete recipes!  I organized everything onto one page for simplicity. You may find a filling in the filling section, but you will also find that filling on the same page when it is used in a specific dessert.  With everyone being more aware of healthy eating habits, I added nutritional facts about each recipe.  With this cookbook, you can still enjoy that “home cooking” and know exactly what you are adding to your diet.

About the Author

RoxAnne Martin was born and raised in western Pennsylvania.  She grew up in a family that taught her the simple things in life.  The four seasons had special meaning.  Spring was spent in preparing the garden for planting, summer was maintaining the garden and baking luscious breads and pastries, fall was canning the harvest fruits and vegetables, and winter was making quilts and Christmas goodies to pass out as gifts.  After graduation from Hempfield Area High School, she entered the world of academia at Clarion University majoring in music education.  Upon graduation, she started her career in teaching.  She sidestepped her chosen career by moving to New York City to try her singing skills on Broadway.  Instead of a budding singing career, she found herself relying on her upbringing to sustain her lifestyle by baking luscious pies for a local coffee house.  When she left New York to raise a family, her career and child rearing consumed her life.  When her husband passed away, she became the sole breadwinner of the family and pushed deeper into  her academic career by receiving her second Master Degree in School Administration from Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland.  Now that her children are grown, and the demands of her current teaching position have diminished, she has time to spend in the kitchen doing what she has always loved to do.  She currently lives in south central Pennsylvania with her two weimerainer dogs.  Her two sons, who live in the area, are her full time taste testers of the recipes which are found in this cookbook..
