About the Book

The LJ (Love Jones) Chronicles, is a representation of emotional photographs, taken from the camera of life, just when you thought no one was looking. Not necessarily an agreeable point of view, but if you ever had an addiction, you are aware of the condition, of having a Jones for something. I have at times been the photographer, and at times had my emotions captured in the dark room. Still the light of day, reflects things you did not see behind the flash, so the photo is indeed worth a thousand words.

Having been a soldier and having soldiered for things I will not compromise, I only hope that some of these poems can remind you of some happy photos in life. If not happy days, maybe real ones, as in the end they are one in the same. So that your journey thru these pages may make you smile, contemplate and think. Having a Jones for Love has kept me sitting by the fire, at the risk of being burned, and or sweating like a junkie from the heat.

Now that you have been invited to look thru my album of feelings, and museum of thoughts, look at this from both sides. Your interpretation of the lines and the thoughts, are what you see, looking through the camera, of your own Jones.

About the Author

Johnny M. Wells Sr., is the oldest of six children born to John Lee and Jean Olivia, (Small, Wells) Thompson, on April 6th 1959. He was blessed to be raised with Jerald, Joy, Jodda, Justine, and Julian, in Kinloch. St. Louis county Missouri. Having a large family on both sides of the marriage has always exposed him to many cultures and much love.

As a young man he traveled to Germany as a soldier in the United States Army, he met and married the former Martina Brigitte (Balzer) Wells. To this union two children were born, Vanessa Lateasha, & Johnny Martanez Jr.

Johnny has always been interested in writing and was inspired at an early age by many famous artists. Two in particular, Langston Hughes and Gill Scott Heron, are by far his favorite authors. Johnny was a member of the Kinloch Ensemble Drama Club and enjoyed acting in many high school plays, as well as writing poetry.

However the greatest influence for writing was experienced at an early age, in the Church of God in Christ, on Hugo Ave, in Kinloch. Being a member of the Sunshine Band, he was required to recite, poems and writings on Easter and Christmas, in front of the Church audience. Seeing the effect the written word, recited, had on people has stayed on his mind since. Not to mention the pride on the face of his family at these recitations.

Johnny and family currently reside in Radciff, Kentucky, were he works for a supply chain, logistics firm. The LJ chronicles is a personal collection of a few of his writings. Hopefully, you will enjoy reading them, as much as he did writing them, peace.
