About the Book

Parenting in today’s world can be a challenge for everyone.  For Quinton Harris, being a father proves to be the most difficult undertaking of his life.  He wants more than to just hang out in the bars and clubs in New York that offer nothing more than casual relationships.  He wants a family that includes a life-long partner and a child.  Quinton''s life is about to be changed forever as he meets the love of his life, Spencer, and Andrew Anderson, a seven-year old boy who will become his foster son.  He soon discovers that the life he''s always dreamed of may turn into a nightmare as a system of child-care workers ignore his cries for help and a justice system works to erase all his accomplishments.

About the Author

A native of New York, Jaleel currently resides in Maryland.  This is his first published work.  Although he has been writing for some time, he feels that his previous works were more cathardic efforts than they were materials to be published.   Inspired by real life events, Jaleel hopes that this story will encourage other black gay men to protect themselves in every aspect of life.

Jaleel received his BA in Sociology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1992.  Currently, Jaleel is an MSW student at Catholic University in Washington, DC.  He has worked extensively within the GBLT, HIV populations as a counselor and volunteers as a support-group facilitator, a condom-outreach worker, serves on a committee with a black, gay organization in the DC area, and delivered food to needy families. He has helped to raise awareness about gay domestic violence by organizing a community forum on the issue.  He endeavors to provide therapy to the GBLT, HIV/AIDS, and deaf communities.

Jaleel is in the process of completing his final year at Catholic University and completing his second novel.
