About the Book

The Board of Destinyraises sharp questions about American society as most accept and live it today. It is a story of one man’s struggle to explore these issues, culminating in his awareness of a new way of living. Do you have the courage to venture his path and to ask these questions of yourself? The idea that “there must be more to life” enters almost every person’s mind at some point. Most are able to put the idea aside, others are haunted by the thought of it, and some decide that they must go find out. What if you are young, educated, and on the fast track to success when suddenly you find yourself in the category of those who have to go in search of more? How does a normal, rational, and well-adjusted person come to such a decision? What forces him to act on the impulse? How does he abandon everything he has been working so hard to obtain? Robert Marion has lots of friends, a good job, a great girlfriend, and many of the possessions that the American dream has taught him are required to be happy. His life is perfect until the death of a close relative causes him to question his comfortable existence. The answer to Robert’s question comes in the form of a dream. In it, he sees that he is supposed to go in search of life’s most important question. He tries to put the dream aside, as he is convinced that he can’t simply disappear…or can he? Eventually Robert cracks and he travels to Europe where he does become enlightened. However, he also begins talking to himself in public, has sexual encounters in brothels, and begins trusting his dreams and visions more than his conscious judgment. After a couple of years have passed, Sarah, his girlfriend from Charleston, learns of his whereabouts and wants to bring him home. Can she reach him in time, or is he lost forever…?
