“Bodyguard!” I had gasped. The word, bodyguard, caught my attention like a red, flashing, neon sign. “Is it that bad there now?” I had asked her.

assignment. I decided to go, and made an appointment to be interviewed. On the way there, I took a drive around town, just to get an idea of the
neighborhood. It was not a scenic tour. The Salvation Army Citadel was one block from the uptown area. A lot of stores were vacant, and boarded up. About the Book
A social worker's experiences and the times in the mid 1970s working with the needy at the Salvation Army in Pontiac, Michigan, in an unsafe neighborhood and she had a bodyguard. It describes the variety of people and problems she encountered from dangerous situations to filling orders for kitchen chairs.
There are also stories about WW 11 veterans, alcoholism, first city to have forced busing, Hoffa's disappearance, and what life was like without some of the technology conveniences of today.
She felt it was a life changing experience that increased her awareness of her many blessings, God's help, and she will never forget, but for the grace of God, walk I.
About the Author
She worked in social work for twenty-six years for a variety of agencies including four years with the Salvation Army, ten years in nursing homes as Director of Social Services, and several months in the prisons of Saudi Arabia.
Keeping diaries has always been a past-time of hers. In additon to writing adult poetry, she wrote a society column for the Troy, Michigan, newspaper, and was also their photographer over two years. She has published, and also, illustrated eight children''s books, under the name of Grandma Tickle-toes®, and entertains children and adults in her granny costume.
